Ikebana workshop

  • Jaadu 47 Bushey Hill Road London, England, SE5 8QF United Kingdom (map)

An evening workshop learning the Japanese art of Ikebana.

Ikebana is about flower arranging. It is steeped in the philosophy of developing a closeness with nature whilst observing the seasons and using natural materials. Ikebana has been deeply associated with a Japanese way of life and dates as far back as the sixth century when Buddhist monks made floral offerings for altars.

Ikebana is a lifestyle that is now becoming increasingly appreciated by many people from all over the world. There is an essential minimalism to Ikebana, where “less is more”. The concept of “Ma” refers to the artistic interpretation of an empty space which holds equal importance as the rest of the floral arrangement.

In this introductory 2hr evening workshop you will learn the 3 elements of Line, Form, and Colour along with principles of Harmony, Balance and Movement.

No experience or equipment is necessary. We will provide you with everything you need to perfect your floral arrangement with. Japanese Saki and snacks will be served whilst you put your creativity and own expression into your arrangement.

Your teacher for the evening will be Tara, Ikebana Inspired Florist and Founder at In Bloom Wellbeing who will welcome you into the beautiful space that is Jaadu with a serene and zen feel for an evening of creativity, relaxation, enjoyment and connection with others. Maximum of 6 people per workshop.

You can take your beautiful Ikebana arrangement home to proudly display them.

All inclusive cost £45. Guests are welcome to purchase their Kenzan and vase separately for £25.
