Insider info - Top 5 places to eat in Delhi.
Janine du Plessis' shortlist of the best eateries in the Indian capital.

Food is and has always been an important part of Indian life. The alchemy of Indian cooking that produces the most flavorsome and delicious dishes is combined with a genuine show of hospitality and welcome. These days, Delhi offers a huge selection of cuisine from every part of the world however, when I am out and about on my trips, keeping to a pretty tight schedule, I usually seek out something lighter for lunch which is more in keeping with café style.

1. Latitude - for lunch

Located on the top floor of the fabulous Good Earth store in Khan Market. Enjoy excellent salads, pastas, wonderful fruit juices or a glass of chilled white wine.

2. Café Turtle - for lunch/snacks

I love popping into this café, also in Khan Market, which is situated on the top floor of the famous Full Circle book shop. Small and so can get very busy but well worth waiting so spend time browsing in amongst the books until a table is free.

3. Dharampura Haveli - Lunch/Dinner

Hidden amongst the maze of little streets and alleys in Chandni Chowk is the most magical and majestic haveli. Recently restored to its full glory, this beautiful building is an absolute wonder. The rooftop restaurant is highly recommended. Enjoy sumptuous Moghul cuisine while gazing over the city and the wonderful views.

4. Kainoosh - Dinner – reservations essential

This restaurant, owned by acclaimed celebrity chef Marut Sikka, is a glamorous and buzzy restaurant serving contemporary Indian food. The menu is innovative and the thali meals are particularly recommended.

5. Spice Route - Dinner

This highly awarded restaurant in The Imperial Hotel is a beautiful setting for food that engages the senses. A food journey from the Malabar Coast through Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Indonesia to Thailand and Vietnam.

As part of Jaadu Travel's 2020 tour, we will be visiting Khan market. We will be enjoying lunch at the Dharampura Haveli and feasting in the Spice Route in the Imperial Hotel, where we will be staying. A culinary treat for the senses!
